Some athletes may not be interested in an intense coaching arrangement. The truth is, not every athlete needs a coach available on a day to day basis. We offer something in between, which is a consulting package. For a one-time fee, Dr. Skiba will meet face-to-face (or by phone) with you for an intense consultation. He will review your history, and together you will plan your entire season, from soup to nuts. He will explain the principles of training, and together you will design workouts and a periodized training plan based upon your ability and history. We will teach you how to quantify your training, gauge your recovery, and make necessary adjustments depending on your response to the training you do. Once finished, you will know exactly how hard you should be training in terms of HR/pace/perceived exertion/power output throughout the season. You will know exactly how long you should be training at every point in the season. You will have a solid basis on which to build your fitness. After the meeting, we are available to consult with you at an agreed upon rate, billed in 15 minute increments. If you need help, you can call or e-mail. If you are doing well and are not having any problems, you don't pay anything.
This is a bit more reasonable and economical, especially for people who are interested in having more control over their own program, training smart and improving performance. It is most appropriate for athletes who are self-driven and goal-oriented.
